Homemade Deodorant

Writer's picture: Alicia PicardAlicia Picard

This deodorant recipe is so simple, and you can easily whip up a batch in 15 minutes or less! It is coconut oil and baking soda free, which is perfect if you have sensitive skin, and includes many skin nourishing ingredients to leave your skin soft and healthy. Leave out the essential oils if you prefer, or change them up throughout the year depending on your mood.

3 Tbsp Shea Butter

2 Tbsp Cocoa butter

2 Tbsp Sweet Almond Oil

3 drops Vitamin E Oil

2 Tbsp Arrowroot Powder

2 Tbsp Magnesium Hydroxide Powder

13 drops Sandalwood oil

13 drops Vanilla Oil

7 drops Neroli oil

9 drops Lavender oil

Melt the Shea and cocoa butter in a double boiler (or a mason jar in a pot of water.) Remove from heat and add almond oil, vitamin e oil and the powders. Stir constantly to combine, and allow to cool slightly before adding essential oils. Pour into a small container (I got these amber jars on Amazon) and allow to solidify. This may take several hours, but you can speed up the process by putting it in the fridge. To use simply scoop out with your fingers and apply to underarms. It makes your hands super soft as well!

Make it magickal

Look up the associations that correspond with the essential oils you use and focus on those intentions when you apply your deodorant. For example vanilla is great for love, lavender and sandalwood for peace, and neroli for purification. So you could use this with the intention of ridding yourself of negative energy and starting the day with self love and a calm mind.

Let me know if you try this recipe! I would love to hear whether you like it, or what changes you make to your batch!

Have a fantastic day🧡
